Magic Mayan chocolate, a local family run Clare company was established in 2012 with Darren at true passionate chocolatier, rebranding the business in 2015.
Magic Mayan Chocolate has a range of 12 organic, raw, bean to bar chocolate bars 3 Smooth 55% Chocolate Bars, confectionary and hot chocolate, all Vegan and Gluten Free
Darren believes in keeping his ingredients as local as possible using seaweed harvested from the shores of Co. Clare and sea salt from Achill Island.

What is Raw Chocolate?

The common perception is that chocolate is a naughty luxury and apart from the feel good factor it

brings, it is not healthy for you. Well, it is if it is RAW and minimally processed using only high-quality basic ingredients.

The normal Cocoa you put is drinking chocolate is a processed version of Cacao (a fruit grown in Gahana, India, Madagascar, Venezuela, Cuba, Peru and Equador). Cacao is produced from the Cacao nibs harvested from the seeds of the fruit.

In its raw form Cacao contains:

Magnesium and other essential minerals including calcium, sulphur, zinc, iron, copper, potassium, and manganese.

  • Polyphenols called flavonoids, with antioxidant properties.
  • Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, E.
  • Essential heart-healthy fat: oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat.
  • Protein.
  • Fiber.

Our bars are produced in a way that maintains these wonderful healthy properties and taste wonderful.

Darren OConnor

Darren is self taught  chocolatier. He is responsible for all production from raw cacao to finished bar ready to ship. Darren also looks after marketing, sales, business relations.

Darren is a pure foodie, avid dog fanatic and loves being a Dad. Darren has aspirations of starting a RAW Chocolate youtube channel.

Sinead OConnor

Sinead is the steam behind this chocolate engine. She looks after customer service, orders, accounts, shipping, quality and much more, all while being a full-time mom.

She is our chief chocolate tester and all round crash test dummy. She is also very approachable, so say Hi!
